Description
The Utu symbol represents the god of sun and justice in ancient Mesopotamia. While commonly known as Utu, he was also known as Shamash and part of a divine trio worshipped alone with the moon god, Nanna, and Inanna the goddess of Venus.
As the god of the sun, Utu was seen as giving life to the world by moving the sun across the sky each day. He had the ability to see all that was happening in the world during the day, including deceit and injustice. People turn to Utu for truth as well as judgment. They believed that Utu’s light could penetrate all things even the underworld and the human heart. Utu’s kindness and compassion is large part of his legend. Many of the old myths and legends highlight his dedication to justice and the protection of heroes.
Embracing the style of ancient Mesopotamia we have designed this shirt with the sun god Utu in mind. This symbol embodies the concepts of light, truth, and justice. The embroidery on the shirts is beautifully and professionally done.
